Naturopathic Medicine Information

Naturopathic Medicine is a system of medicine founded in 1903 whose primary goal is to address the cause of disease not merely to suppress symptoms. Although the official beginning of Naturopathy was little more than 100 years ago, the philosophies and practices stem from healing arts passed down throughout the ages. These clinically effective practices were combined with the modern technological and scientific advances using the best of both systems to appropriately *diagnose and treat patients in a primary care setting.

A Licensed (or Licensable) Naturopathic Physician (N.D., N.M.D.) attends a four-year post-graduate level Naturopathic Medical school and is educated in all of the same basic sciences, including pharmacology, minor surgery, and intra-venous therapies as an MD but also studies holistic and nontoxic approaches to therapy with a strong emphasis on disease prevention and optimizing wellness.

*(The ability to diagnosis & treat specific illness or injury is legislated from state to state.)
